According to the AKC only approximately 75 percent of Norwich puppies born are registered. Below are the number of Norwich born in a given year that AKC says are registered. The rest of the numbers are from my Norwich pedigree database (version 3.11).

2011 AKC=528: males=142 bred=38, females=197 bred=76
2012 AKC=508: males=159 bred=44, females=184 bred=82
2013 AKC=485: males=106 bred=26, females=174 bred=56
2014 AKC=453: males=145 bred=38, females=173 bred=79
2015 AKC=409: males=138 bred=26, females=181 bred=72
2016 AKC=431: males=159 bred=28, females=152 bred=57
2017 AKC=381: males=123 bred=25, females=150 bred=63
2018 AKC=366: males=143 bred=28, females=124 bred=50
2019 AKC=415: males=151 bred=25, females=165 bred=68
While there are some imported foreign-born Norwich who are bred, I do not think that changes the numbers by more than 25 percent. I do my best to make my online Norwich pedigree database be as complete as possible, but clearly I am missing approximately 100 Norwich born each year (who I suspect are going into pet homes). I believe that my database includes almost all Norwich who are bred in the United States.
My conclusion from looking at this is that while no individual male is a popular sire, for better genetic diversity for the breed more males should be used.
